350 athletes competed in the Annual East Grinstead Runners 10K. The race was created in memorial of the late England Rugby player, Andy Ripley OBE, a local to the area. The race started and finished at Glendale managed Imberhorne Recreation Ground. The club was honoured to have Andy's family present to start the Race which raised funds for EG Lions Prostrate Screening Programme.
Another beneficiary of the day was club member, Mapande Todd who sadly had a leg amputated following diagnosis of a rare bone cancer. We are pleased that funds raised will aid her rehabilitation and her journey back to club activities.
Congratulations to East Grinstead Runners' Members, Athletes and Volunteers whose hard work contributed to a very successful day.

A new extension to Hickmans Lane, Lindfield Pavilion has been added to host Football, Cricket and Stoolball clubs throughout the year. The design has moved away from the conventional recreation ground pavilion, offering a bright, contemporary build with kitchen, accessible toilet, social and safeguarding areas. Bi-fold doors open up on to paved viewing areas, while inside modern vibes focus on natural light from sky lights and floor to ceiling windows. The old changing rooms have been modified and cleverly integrated in to the new building. Congratulations all round to the Mid Sussex District Council Design and Build teams.
The Pavilion will be hosted by Lindfield Juniors FC. Founded over 40 years ago, the club, now with 750+ players, is the largest football club in Sussex.
Work will now begin with Glendale renovating and maintaining three football pitches and a cricket square, which is a second home to Lindfield Cricket Club. Work has begun to upgrade the outfield and landscaping within the Recreation Ground.
Stoolball (pictured below) is played at Hickmans Lane. Considered the antecedent of cricket and baseball, Stoolball has been played in Sussex and into Kent for 500 years. Similar to cricket, it is played by teams of 11 players, but the two wickets are square boards on posts at shoulder height. Bats are sprung with a round face and long handle. Scoring runs and ways of getting out are also similar to cricket with a boundary for fours and sixes.

Our Pitch Renovation Maintenance Teams have taken full advantage of the mild Autumn and have been busy working on football and rugby pitches , cricket outfields and squares and Bowls Greens.
Pictured above is Earthquaking at Scaynes Hill Recreation Ground. Earthquaking is a process what it says on the tin, vibrating and slitting the ground to create air circulation to improve drainage and root growth. Local gardeners will know that clay is the core ingredient of soil in Mid Sussex. The machinery opens up this compacted ground and will be of immeasurable assistance to improving pitch conditions.
Our Glendale Fine Turf Team had no time to put their feet up at the end of the Summer.
The Team have carried out extensive Autumn works on two bowling greens at Beechurst and Mount Noddy and the five cricket squares at Hickmans Lane, Hook Lane, Warninglid, Clayton Green and Berrylands Farm. All cricket pitches have full Sussex Cricket League allocations for the 2026 season so a full preparation programme is in place to meet this demand.
There will be similar maintenance programmes on further County League outfields across Mid Sussex and will be supporting the FA's Pitch Power initiative.
Glendale will be inviting clubs to meet one-to-one to discuss Maintenance Programmes across all Glendale maintained Winter and Summer pitches
